Special Envoy Meets President Koroma

During his visit, Mr. Han Changfu attended relevant activities of the 50th independence anniversary celebrations, met President Koroma, and visited the China-aided Jui hospital together with President Koroma . The special envoy and President Koroma also  graced the handing-over ceremony of the additional office building of the Sierra Leonean Parliament, financed and built by China. When meeting with President Koroma, Mr. Han conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's greetings to his host and congratulated the latter on the achievements Sierra Leone has made since gaining its independence. Han emphasized that the Chinese government values the friendship between China and Sierra Leone and is willing to make joint efforts with Sierra Leone's government to explore ways and areas for further cooperation between the two countries, and push forward China-Sierra Leone friendly relations. For his part, President Koroma expressed his thanks to President Hu Jintao for sending Mr. Han Changfu as his special envoy to attend the jubilee. He said, since the establishment of diplomatic ties 40 years ago, bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and China have grown fast, the friendship between the two peoples has grown stronger, and economic cooperation strengthened. Sierra Leone is willing to join China in further strengthening all forms of friendly contacts, expanding mutually-beneficial cooperation, and enhancing bilateral coordination and cooperation in international affairs so as to benefit the two countries and peoples.
