Ambassador WU Attends the First Companies Exhibition and Job Fair in Sierra Leone

On April 21, 2018, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Sierra Leone H.E. WU Peng, jointed with the Vice Chancellor of University of Sierra Leone, Prof. Thompson, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College, Prof. Gbamanja, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. ZHANG Xueqian, the director of the Confucius Institute at USL, Mr. HE Mingqing, the Commissioner of National Youth Commission, as well as thousands of college graduates attended the first companies exhibition and job fair in Sierra Leone at Amphitheater of FBC.

The fair, initiated by the Confucius Institute at USL, attracted more than 50 companies like CRSG, CCECC, SLCB, DSTV from China, Sierra Leone and many other countries, was capable of providing an impressive number of 3,500 potential job vacancies and attracted thousands of young graduates and other job seekers.

Ambassador WU during the job fair exchanged views cordially with the students and said as the constant development of China-Sierra Leone cooperation, more and more Chinese companies invested in Sierra Leone in various areas and provided thousands of jobs for Sierra Leoneans. He noted that, as the Sierra Leonean government was trying its best to develop the economy, the employment of young people would form a very important part of drive. He went on to say that, the job fair created a face-to-face channel for the companies to meet its potential staffs and a way to promote itself while job seekers were offered with career opportunities, which showed a good example of win-win cooperation between the two countries. He wished the students would make their contribution to the development of the country and also towards the friendship and bilateral cooperation between China and Sierra Leone.

USL, NYC and the students spoke highly of the job fair and thanked the Chinese Embassy, Confucius Institute, and the Chinese companies for their long time support in term of employment in Sierra Leone and the human resource exchange. The job fair provided a good chance for the young graduates to realize their career dreams and opportunity to contribute to their national development.

After interview process at the job fair, some young graduates already got their dream jobs while others will be subsequently contacted after the companies may have gone through their resumes.
