Chinese President Sends Condolences to President Koroma over the Deadly Mudslide Disaster

On August 15, 2017, His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China sent a message of condolences to His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone over the catastrophic mudslide disaster occurred on August 14 in Freetown which caused massive casualties and enormous property losses.

In his message, President Xi on behalf of the government and people of the People's Republic of China, and in his own name, expressed deepest condolences to the victims and extended sincere sympathies to the bereaved families.

President Xi also intimated to his counterpart President Koroma that he had instructed relevant departments of the Chinese government to provide necessary support and assistance for the disaster relief efforts of Sierra Leone government. President Xi firmly believed that, under the strong leadership of His Excellency President Koroma and his government, the Sierra Leonean people would surely overcome the disaster and rebuild their homeland at the earliest opportunity.
