Chinese Ambassador WU Peng Attends International Business Seminar Hosted by the University of Sierra Leone

On April 25, 2017, Ambassador WU Peng of the People's Republic of China to Sierra Leone attended an International Business Seminar organized by Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) of the University of Sierra Leone at Bank Complex Kingtom west of Freetown. Over 1000 people were in attendance, including the Honorable Minister of State 2 of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Patrick S. Conteh, Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) Raymond Gbekie, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of IPAM Prof. Allyson Sesay, and students of the University.

While invited as the guest speaker at the seminar, Ambassador WU Peng gave a keynote speech on the topic of The Role of the Chinese Government Policies in Enhancing International Business, hence the Sierra Leone Economy. In his speech, Ambassador WU introduced Chinese policies and experiences on the process of economic globalization and also shared the successes made by China since the birth of China's reform and opening-up policy.

Ambassador WU pointed out that, China believed that the integration into the world economy was the general direction of history for the economic development. China has been working hard to join the global economic competition and tried its best to build good investment environment for the success of the Chinese economy.

Ambassador WU opined that the economic and trade cooperation between China and Sierra Leone has enjoyed a sustained and steady progress for a very long time with fruitful results. He added that, the Embassy was encouraging more Chinese companies to invest in Sierra Leone in order to promote the development of the economy, and enhance the strategic partnership of comprehensive cooperation that has flourished between the two nations. At last, Ambassador WU hoped Sierra Leone would continue to create a favorable environment for foreign investment.
