On December 20, 2023, the launching ceremony of "Warm Welcome to Spring - Celebrating Chinese New Year" series of activities and the First Session of Football Invitation Tournament" of Chinese Community in Sierra Leone was held at the National Stadium of Sierra Leone. Ambassador Wang Qing attended and delivered a speech, and more than 100 representatives of Chinese company and Chinese community in Sierra Leone participated in the event.

Ambassador Wang extended his best wishes for the Chinese New Year to the staff of Chinese-funded enterprises and Chinese community in Sierra Leone, and said that exchanges between China and Sierra Leone in various fields have maintained a good momentum in the past year, and practical cooperation has been fruitful, ushering in a new opportunity for the development of bilateral relations. Ambassador Wang thanked the Chinese companies and community in Sierra Leone for their support and full understanding of the Embassy's work in the past year, and encouraged them to give full play to their role as a bridge to make greater contributions to the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the two countries with full confidence and impetus.

This series of activities is the first time to be carried out after COVID-19, featuring football, basketball, track and field, rope skipping, shuttlecock, table tennis, swimming, billiards, etc. A Spring Festival Reception will also be held at the time, in order to create a harmonious atmosphere of the Chinese New Year.
