On December 19, 2023, three Chinese medical teams, namely the Chinese Medical Team(CMT), the Chinese Military Medical Expert Group and the China CDC P3 Lab Expert Team called on His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio.
H.E. President Julius Maada Bio thanked the Chinese Medical Teams for their commitment towards contributing to improving the country’s healthcare service delivery. H.E said that since 1973 China dispatched the first CMT to Sierra Leone, the Chinese medical team’s tireless efforts and expertise have made significant impacts on the well-being of SL people. Sierra Leone and China have continued to enjoy mutually beneficial partnerships and shall continue to support initiatives that promote people-to-people as well as government-to-government cooperation.
H.E. Ambassador Wang Qing said that health sector is always the highlight of China-Sierra Leone friendly cooperation and China will continue to work closely with Sierra Leone to implement the important consensus reached by H.E. President Xi Jinping and His Excellency Julius Maasa Bio on the development of China-Sierra Leone bilateral relations.
The three teams expressed gratitude to the Sierra Leonean government and people for the strong support and close cooperation.
