Ambassador Wang Qing Attended the Seminar on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases

On January 10, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China CDC) and the Ministry of Health of Sierra Leone(MOH) jointly held an academic seminar on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases control. Ambassador Wang Qing, Acting Minister of MOH, Dr.Charles Senessie, and Chinese Academician Xu Jianguo and others attended.

Ambassador Wang Qing reviewed China-Sierra Leone's joint efforts to fight Ebola, COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, introduced the new progress of practical cooperation between the two countries in health sector in recent years, and expressed that China would continue to support disease prevention and control expertsof the two countriesto strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and make greater contributions to improving the well-being of peoples of the two countries and promoting the construction of a Global Community of Health for All.

Acting Minister Senesi praised China's important support for the development of Sierra Leone's health sector and hoped the two countries would continue to conduct efficient cooperation to jointly respond to new global health challenges.

Over ten experts from China and Sierra Leone, as well as international organizations such as WHO and Africa CDC, madepresentations and had in-depth discussions and exchanges on the seminar.
